The Seasons Shift

Vultures sail into the approaching storm, the weather turns and the seasons shift.

The Time of Day

Clear Creek. Wending through the sycamores, stumbling over hedge apples, in a rush to take advantage of the last of the good weather. Still wet wading, though the water is noticeably colder. The smallmouth evade me all the way to the island and back. So as darkness drifts down I tie on the chubby by a long, slow pool and find the only fish willing to give me the time of day.

Hooking Into the Future

Sugar Creek. Warm wind whistling down the canyon. Caught more leaves than fish. But at the tailout before the rapids one little smallie after another almost evened the score. Took a break at dusk and then looked for something bigger. Found yet another precocious youngster. Hooking into the future.

Drink It Deep

Two more recent trips to Yellowwood. Trying to take advantage of the golden days before the cold winds blow. Fish are perhaps few and far between, but all the more appreciated for that. And there's ample Autumn calm and beauty. This is the time to drink it deep.
