Chubby Fly, Chubby Moon

It's a warm fall afternoon. The fishing continues slow. Then the dusk comes and the cool shadows fall and I tie on a Purple Chubby for the hell of it.

I bought some of these foam flies a few years ago at Mike Lawson's Henry's Fork Anglers fly shop in Last Chance for the Henry's Fork and Teton rivers. I don't tie with foam, but sometimes it's nice to have a zero maintenance high floater. I didn't have any special luck with it on the rivers, but it worked like a charm with the rainbows and browns on Trout Lake in Washington.

And now, under a waxing moon, it brings up some better bluegills at Yellowwood.
