Pumpkin(seed) Spice

It's hot at Yellowwood. It's a weekend, but the lake isn't too crowded.

I fish the shoreline, and I fish offshore. I go as deep as I can with a sinking tip, I fish at medium depth with soft hackles, and I cover the surface with a wide range of dries. The fish have apparently migrated somewhere.

Then, with a fat little muddler fished way up against the weeds, I hook two fat little pumpkinseeds.

At dusk even the pumpkinseeds shut down. Only the squirrels are active, dropping shell fragments into the water under overhanging hickories.

Campfire smoke hangs in the treetops over the campgrounds and the boat ramp.

Time to go.
